Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Blue Island Projects & Design Inc. is an architectural design studio based at Retreat Terrace, St. Michael, Barbados. We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy.
Privacy queries, access requests and deletion requests: info@blueislandprojects.com or 246.265.9530.
2. The personal data we collect
We collect only what we need to run the studio and the plans store:
- Checkout: your name, email address, phone number and billing or delivery address, plus the order and licence details you select. Card and payment credentials are entered with and processed by our payment provider — we never see or store full card numbers ourselves.
- Contact and quote forms, and WhatsApp click-throughs: your name, contact details, parish or property location and whatever you tell us about the project. If you continue the conversation on WhatsApp, that chat is held in your WhatsApp account and ours.
- Testimonial submissions: your name, project or parish, project type, rating, testimonial text, an optional photo and an optional email address. The email address is used only so we can verify or follow up on the submission and is never published on the site.
- Studio Notes newsletter: your email address and the topics you choose.
- Archiquant: the project specs and estimate inputs you enter (floor areas, finishes, location and similar), together with the estimates generated from them.
- Accounts, Orders and Downloads: if you sign in to retrieve orders or plan downloads, we hold your account email, sign-in metadata and a record of your orders and downloads.
- Collected automatically: IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, referring page and basic usage events (including clicks on our Instagram feed). Where an analytics or advertising tool such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel is installed, it collects this kind of data too — see our Cookie Policy.
3. How we use it
- Fulfilling orders: preparing and delivering drawing packages, issuing licence agreements and receipts, and answering questions about your purchase.
- Responding to enquiries, quotes and consultation requests.
- Sending Studio Notes to subscribers, with an unsubscribe link in every email.
- Publishing approved testimonials (name, parish/project and text only — never your email).
- Producing preliminary Archiquant estimates for you and improving the tool's accuracy.
- Understanding how the site is used so we can improve it.
- Preventing fraud and abuse, and keeping records we are legally required to keep.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers we need to operate, and only for that purpose:
- Our payment processor (Stripe or an equivalent provider) — to take payment and handle refunds and chargebacks.
- Our hosting, database and file-storage providers — to run the site, store orders and deliver plan files.
- Our email and newsletter delivery provider — to send order confirmations, licence agreements and Studio Notes.
- The Instagram feed widget provider (LightWidget / SnapWidget) — this pulls our public Instagram posts into the page and does not receive your personal data from us.
- Analytics or advertising providers such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel, where installed.
- Affiliate programmes (including Amazon Associates and brand affiliate programmes). Clicking an affiliate link takes you to a third-party site that may set its own cookies and collect its own data under its own privacy policy — not ours.
- Professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires disclosure.
5. Our legal basis for processing
- Performing a contract — processing your order, delivering plans and licences, and providing design services you have engaged us for.
- Consent — sending Studio Notes, publishing your testimonial, and setting non-essential analytics or marketing cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — running and securing the site, preventing fraud, and understanding aggregate usage in a way that does not override your privacy.
- Legal obligation — keeping accounting and tax records.
6. How long we keep it
- Order, licence and payment records: kept for as long as the licence is live and for at least seven years afterwards, to satisfy accounting and tax requirements.
- Enquiries and quote requests: up to 24 months from our last exchange, unless they become a project.
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, plus a suppression record so we do not email you again by mistake.
- Testimonials: for as long as they are published, or until you ask us to remove yours.
- Archiquant inputs and analytics data: retained in aggregated or anonymised form; identifiable inputs are cleared when no longer needed.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- confirm what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete your data where we are not required to keep it (order and tax records are the usual exception);
- stop sending you Studio Notes — use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us;
- remove or unpublish a testimonial you submitted.
Email info@blueislandprojects.com and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify who you are first.
8. Children's privacy
This site is intended for adults engaging professional design services. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on our database and storage, row-level restrictions on customer records, and reputable processors for payments and email. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we will notify you and the relevant authorities if a breach affects your data.
10. International transfers
Our hosting, database, storage, email and payment providers operate data centres outside Barbados, including in the United States and the European Union. This means your data may be stored and processed abroad under those providers' contractual and technical safeguards. By using the site you acknowledge this transfer.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this page and change the “Last updated” date whenever this policy changes. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will say so in a Studio Notes email or a notice on the site before it takes effect.
